Pomodoro and focus apps

Forest

iPhone · Android · free + Forest Plus subscription

The one that started it all. Start a session and a tree grows. Leave the app and it dies. The team also plants real trees with partners.

Great for: anyone who reaches for their phone mid-session.
Keep in mind: it keeps your hands off your phone during focus. It doesn't change what you do in your breaks.

Focus Friend

iPhone · Android · free + optional subscription

Hank Green's app, where a little bean knits while you focus. It's cozy, charming, and hugely popular on TikTok.

Great for: people who focus better with company.
Keep in mind: it's built around the vibe during focus. Breaks are up to you.

FocusFlight

iPhone · subscription

Your focus session becomes a flight between real cities, with a boarding pass and a flight log. It's beautifully made.

Great for: long, deep-work blocks.
Keep in mind: it's iPhone only, and most features need a subscription.

Flora

iPhone · Android · free + optional Flora Care

Often called "the free Forest". You grow plants as you focus, can focus with friends, and can even make a pledge that costs you if you give up.

Great for: groups and accountability.
Keep in mind: the design is simpler than the newer apps.

Study Bunny

iPhone · Android · free with ads

Study with a bunny, earn coins, and buy it outfits. It's a studytok favorite.

Great for: students who like a study pet.
Keep in mind: ads are the most common complaint in reviews.

Posture apps (for your laptop)

These aren't pomodoro timers. They watch how you sit through your webcam.

SuperShrimp

Mac · Windows · Linux · one-time purchase

Marc Lou's posture coach. It gives you a live posture score, nudges you when you hunch, and levels up a shrimp. Processing is on-device.

Great for: people who sit at a computer all day and want live posture feedback.

SitApp

Mac · Windows · Linux · free 1 hour/day, Pro subscription

A little robot peeks out when you slouch. It also has break reminders with 1-minute movement ideas, streaks, and a team plan.

Great for: trying posture tracking for free.

Where Shrimpodoro fits

Shrimpodoro

iPhone · coming soon

Most focus apps protect your focus time. Shrimpodoro is about your breaks. When a pomodoro ends, your next one stays locked until you do 8 squats. Your front camera counts them on your phone and never records. A hand-drawn kid curls into a shrimp while you work and stands back up when you squat. Finished rounds drop tomatoes into a pile.

Great for: people whose "5-minute break" turns into 40 minutes of scrolling, or who stand up after 3 pomodoros feeling stiff.
Keep in mind: it's iPhone only at launch, and you do need space to squat. You can skip, but you'll get a black tomato.

Can I use more than one?

Yes. Plenty of people pair a laptop posture app with a phone timer, or keep Forest for phone-free focus. What matters is picking the problem you actually have: staying off your phone, sitting badly, or not moving at all.
